Gas, Oil, and ANWR

There's even more to talk about regarding gas prices today. Yesterday oil closed at more than $56 a barrel (a new high) and is today trading at just over $57. Gas prices moved as well with the national average for regular unleaded breaking a new record at $2.055 a gallon.
In an interestingly timed and strategically designed budget bill, the Senate approved drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. By making it part of a budget bill proponents of drilling were able to block opponents from using a filibuster, which has been the usual technique for blocking ANWR drilling in the past. Thus, it appears that drilling in ANWR will likely go forward in perhaps as few as just a couple of years.
